Curriculum Mapping

Curriculum Mapping .png

Our goal is to continually improve our schools' capacity to integrate the EfS Standards and Performance Indicators into the curriculum scope and sequence vertically and laterally in the appropriate disciplines and grade levels.

The Cloud Institute will:

  • Facilitate in depth discussion of the rationales and applications for curriculum documentation and mapping.

  • Review and apply the process of “backwards design”/UBD in the context of curriculum mapping to educate for sustainability.

  • Align, design/ innovate, document and map curriculum with faculty to embed EfS and other voluntary and required standards.

  • Map scopes and sequences, develop year-long contexts and pacing calendars with instructional teams.

  • Determine with the leadership team what types of analytics and reports are useful to them over time and analyze with them the results over time so we can determine next steps.

Innovated Project #1 & #2 - Civic Engagement & Student Learning

Project.png

We encourage students and teachers to conduct authentic, project based, place based, service-learning opportunities through the curriculum with a focus on civic engagement and student learning. Once they have completed mapping the school community assets and liabilities, students can decide whether they want to protect an asset or address a challenge or liability in the community. They can design a project of their choosing, implement, assess and reflect on the results of their intervention.

The Cloud Institute will assist educators to:

  • Identify authentic learning opportunities for students in the community through service and project based learning.

  • Develop relationships with key community stakeholders who are valuable resources to the school/district.

  • Position the school as an authentic resource to other schools and to the community to address the needs of local sustainable community development.

  • Create opportunities for schools and communities to learn together through workshops, “World Café” discussions, speaker series, book clubs and study circles and “Green Team” events.

  • Prepare students and teachers to monitor sustainable community indicators to track and produce evidence of change over time.

  • Celebrate together as much as possible the successes, and the learning that comes from worthy failures.
